(When I was looking for an image for this post, all I could find were pictures of white women in fluffy dresses, so I decided to go with cake instead. Because, you know, everyone likes cake.)
I’m starting a new series on this blog- I’m calling it The Marriage Project- in which I interview women on their feelings/motivations about getting and being married. I’m interested in where folks get their ideas about what marriage is for, what it should look like, and if it’s changed them and their relationship with their partner. (For the time being, I’m talking with biological women married to one biological men, in monogamous relationships, but I do plan to speak with queer folks in the near future.) My hope is that women of various religious, economic, racial and geographical backgrounds and locations will feel safe being honest with their answers.
Right now, the plan is to post one interview a week, depending on how consistent the response is. If you’d like to be a part of the project, leave me a comment on this post, and I’ll get back to you. I won’t be using any names, just initials, and you’re in charge of how much specific information gets posted.
