saturday, the twenty ninth of june

A dog and his human mom were wandering around the fountain today. “He likes to go swimming,” she told me. “You can do it,” she said to him. “Go, Leo, go!” He growled at the water and ate some leaves. There was no swimming.  

A couple was walking an orange cat named Bernadette on a leash.

One of those huge, boxy, 70’s style minivans was parked across from the field. You just don’t see those everyday.

There was  peanut brittle  in the MFA Writing office and we ate it during our break in workshop and it was the good kind that doesn’t stick to your teeth.

I went to the library and sat in the basement and took out A Visit from the Goon Squad and read fifty pages in an hour.

Jess Row read us a short story called ‘The Axe,” and before he started, he put an actual axe on the podium so we’d remember the title of the story.
